We welcome you back to Stanwood for our second year of participation in the Puget Sound LYS Tour. Stilly River Yarns is one of 24 member shops for the 2019 Tour, and we can't wait to see you again! (Parking information, restaurant suggestions, and detailed directions are available at the bottom of this page.)
As with all other shops, we'll be offering a free crochet pattern, a free knitting pattern, and a free limited-edition pin (while they last!) - no purchase necessary. The yarn or yarns we've chosen to support our patterns will be 10% off regular price for the duration of the Tour, whether you choose the yarn for a Tour project or for something else in your queue! Make sure to get your passport stamped so that you can enter the grand prize drawings - turn in stamps for 8 shops and get entered for a drawing for a $100 gift certificate to the shop of your choice; turn in stamps for 16 and get entered into the drawing for a $250 gift certificate to the shop of your choice; fill your passport with stamps from all 24 shops and get entered in the drawing for a $500 gift certificate that you can split among your choice of three member shops!
Additionally, every participating shop will have a limited-edition prize bag to give away every single day of the Tour - and each day's bag is different and valued at around $150 USD.
Our 2019 Tour Patterns
Our 2019 Tour patterns are available free at our brick-and-mortar shop, but only during the five days of the Puget Sound LYS Tour!
Pictured at left above: Trifle, our crochet pattern, was designed by Karen Whooley. This lacey, fun cowl features CoBaSi, a summer-appropriate fingering-weight blend of 55% cotton/21% elastic nylon/16% rayon from bamboo/8% silk; to make the project as shown, you'll need 2 hanks. We have multicolor, solid, and tonal options available! The cowl is great for building your crochet skills - it starts with foundation stitches, then moves on to highly textured stitches and three different openwork patterns.
Pictured at right above: the Elliott Point Socks, our knitting pattern, were designed by Meredith Hainsworth of Useless Bay Knits. They feature West Yorkshire Spinners Bluefaced Leicester (BFL) Colours DK and/or West Yorkshire Spinners Bluefaced Leicester (BFL) Fleece DK. This breed-specific 100% wool yarn is soft and cozy - yet durable enough for hiking socks when knitted at a dense gauge! The socks work up incredibly quickly, even if you've never knitted a pair of socks before; learn a new short-row heel, play with color combos, and treat yourself to some Pacific Northwest-inspired colorwork.

Parking / detailed directions
Stilly River Yarns is located on the corner of 271st St. NW and 99th Ave NW in downtown Stanwood; the little olive green bungalow with the gorgeous garden is us! We're about halfway between the Stanwood Library and the Stanwood-Camano Thrift Store / Food Bank. Come around to the front of the house with the hanging baskets and the big, shady front porch to visit the shop!
We have excellent parking options at and around the shop. There are two parking lots on the east and west sides of the building, and there is ample street parking just west of the shop. There's a dedicated accessible parking spot with a ramp up to the front door in the west lot that we share with Krista's PetSpaw. The yellow cars on the image below mark possible parking spots; the blue arrow marks the accessible parking spot; the red pin marks the shop itself. Please note that two spots in the east parking lot are reserved for our neighbors in the apartment behind the shop!
Detailed directions: If you’re coming into Stanwood via I-5/SR 532, you’ll find us by going west on SR 532; turn right at the light at 102nd Ave NW, and then turn right at 271st St. NW/Pearson St (the Stanwood-Camano Food Bank/Thrift Store will be on the corner on your left). Go about two blocks, and we’re on the left at the corner of 271st and 99th. If you’re coming in on Pioneer Highway (the back way from Conway/La Conner), go about 5 miles south on Pioneer, and you’ll see a railroad crossing on the right – turn right and cross the railroad tracks, and you’re on Old Pacific Highway. Take Old Pacific Highway south for 1.5 miles – you’ll cross another set of railroad tracks and start to come through town. About 3 blocks through town, you’ll see 271st St. NW/Pearson Street as your cross street (a gravel parking lot will be ahead on the left, and the Stanwood-Camano Food Bank/Thrift Shop will be ahead on the right). Turn left on 271st/Pearson, and go about two blocks – we’re on the left at the corner of 271st and 99th.
Things you might want to know about: Our shop restroom is ADA-compliant, and we have a diaper changing table available for any tiny yarn tourists who might be along for the ride; there's also free wi-fi available at the shop so that you can check your Ravelry queue and stash listings. We'll have light snacks and water available on the front lawn, too.
Trunk shows: We're hosting trunk shows and pop-up shops each day during Tour! Plan on these guests being with us from 10 AM until about 6 PM each night; if you're running late and aren't sure you'll make it, give us a call at (360) 631-5801 and we'll see what we can do!
