The crawl will take place in "hybrid mode" again this year due to the continuing pandemic - visit any of the 32 participating shops in Oregon and Washington by making a trip in person or making an online/phone purchase, get your passport stamp, and get entered in some fantastic prize and gift certificate drawings. We've got an entire section of our online store set up just for Slow Crawl visitors - get your passport there, pick up some shop swag or fun accessories and notions, and grab the yarn for our lovely patterns once the Slow Crawl begins on Friday, May 28.
If you're visiting us in person: just show us your passport and photo ID, and we'll get you hooked up with your sticker and pattern codes - no purchase necessary.
Online visitors: you'll need to make a purchase in order to receive your sticker and pattern codes; we're posting some great options to fit any budget in our online shop under the LYS Tours and Crawls section. Please let us know you're doing a virtual visit for the Slow Crawl by leaving us a note in the comments section of the order form when you make your purchase.
PLEASE NOTE: we are open but operating at non-standard retail hours due to pandemic changes to childcare and work schedules for various members of our household. Until further notice, we are open Tuesday - Friday 2 - 7 PM and Saturday 9 AM - 3 PM. We're also operating with strict safety protocols in place to protect our shop family and community members. All visitors must wear a mask over their nose and mouth while inside the store; we also require visitors to wash their hands in the shop restroom prior to entering our sales area. Please check our notice board to the left of our door before coming into the shop to make sure we have room for you and your party, as we are currently required to limit shop occupancy to lower-than-normal numbers. This information may change over the course of the summer as the situation changes throughout the state and county.
THE PATTERNS: 2021
We're excited to bring you two beautiful, summery designs this year! These lacey scarves or stoles are the perfect items to dress up a summer evening out; change the yarn weight and make yourself a giant, cozy wrap for the winter. As always, the patterns offer you a chance to build your skills and use luxurious yarns that won't bust your budget. Both samples are on display in the shop, too! These patterns are FREE as part of your Slow Crawl visit in person; to receive them as a virtual Slow Crawl participant, please place an order of any size in our online shop, leave a note that you're doing the Slow Crawl in the comments section in the order form, and we'll put the code in with your order.
Cyclamen in the Moss, designed by Karen Whooley, is way easier than it might look at first glance. The delicate fabric is created with a laceweight yarn and smaller hook - we're suggesting Exquisite by West Yorkshire Spinners. The diamond motif will really pop as soon as you block it, and Karen chose a vintage Italian edging to feature along the short ends of the stole.
The Eloise Wrap by Meredith Hainsworth is a stunning combination of a simple lace motif and easy slipped-stitch colorwork. Worked in Mirasol Nuna, this scarf is available in two sizes. Our model (shown here and on display in the shop) is the large size and will use three hanks of Nuna; the smaller version will only use two. The blend of Merino wool, mulberry silk, and viscose is a drapey blend that will look phenomenal and keep you cool all summer long.
