As of Friday, June 4, Snohomish County has gotten the green light to pass to Phase 2 of Washington’s reopening plan, so that means that we can start to welcome you back into the shop - hooray! However, we’re easing back into opening and making some major changes to operations so that we can keep our staff, their families, our customers, and our community healthy. Here are the details:
The shop’s opening hours will continue to be abbreviated. Effective immediately, we’ll be open on Tuesdays from 2 - 7 PM and Wednesdays through Saturdays 11 AM - 4 PM.
To enter the shop, you must wear a mask that covers your mouth/nose at all times and wash your hands with soap/water in the shop’s public restroom before entering the sales area. (We will have cloth masks available for purchase soon, but probably not this week - we apologize for any inconvenience. All money from masks, minus $1 per mask for credit card transaction fees, will be donated to the Stanwood-Camano Food Bank.) We’re happy to continue curbside/porch service if you forget your mask, are uncomfortable wearing a mask, or don’t want to enter the shop just yet.
We’ll continue to take orders by phone and through our online shop as well. Pay-what-you-can shipping and pay-what-you-can class registrations (for most classes) will be in effect until at least the beginning of Phase 4.
For the week of June 9 -11 and 13, we’ll operate by appointment only. (PLEASE NOTE: We'll be closed on Friday, June 12 to participate in the statewide general strike and day of action in support of Black Lives Matter.) Please give us a call at 360.631.5801 or text us at 515.833.0689 to reserve a 15-minute slot. This will allow us to fine-tune our re-opening plan; due to the small, enclosed space that the shop occupies, we want to make sure we’ve got our routines down before we open to drop-in customers in any capacity. Appointments will be limited to one customer per slot, or one customer plus a friend/family member. This limits the “bubble” of any possible COVID-19 exposure.
If you arrive early for your appointment and don’t feel like waiting in your car, we’ll have socially-distanced waiting spots marked out on the porch benches.
From June 16 until further notice, we’ll be open by appointment only for the first 2 hours of the day. Again, please call or text us to reserve a 15-minute slot - we’ll continue to “limit the bubble” by only allowing one customer (or a customer + a person they trust) in during an appointment slot. For the second part of the day, we’ll be open on a first-come, first-serve basis. We will be allowing a maximum of 2 customers in the shop at any one time. We’ll provide more details on the entry/exit procedure next weekend!
Classes: until further notice, we will be offering classes solely through the Zoom platform. Please see our Classes and Events page for current class options and revisit our Class Policies page for updated information for online classes.
Fixes and other help required: due to reduced hours and limited availability of staff members, until we pass into Phase 3, we’re asking customers to drop off any project that needs fixing, and we’ll get through them in the order that they were dropped off with us. As has been our policy since we opened, if it’s a quick fix (less than about 5 -10 minutes), we’ll be happy to do it for you for free; if it’s more involved, we charge by the quarter hour ($7.50 per 15-minute time slot).
Social time: We’re going to continue to hold our Zoom-Baaaaa social time on Tuesday nights, but we’re moving it back slightly to 7:30 - 8:30 PM PST; we’ve decided to discontinue Sunday afternoon Zoom-Baaaaa now that the weather’s nice. Instagram broadcasts will continue a couple of times each week - Monday and Friday at 8:30 PM PST.
Virtual shopping and office hours: We’ve decided to discontinue Facebook Live office hours for now. We can still offer you virtual shopping via Zoom and FaceTime, but we do need to ask you to make an appointment. Please call or text the shop and we’ll get you signed up!
