This spring, we’ll be embarking on our first crochet-along in a VERY long time. Toni Lipsey’s Bronwyn Shawl is a great opportunity to play with texture and color combinations using simple stitches - whether you’re a new crocheter or have several decades of experience under your belt, we’re pretty sure you’re going to love this project!
The pattern allows for a wide variety of yarns to be used. Our shop sample uses Malabrigo Arroyo in Talisman, Azules, and Pearl; you can use this as an excuse to do some stashbusting, either in full or in part - maybe you need a single hank of wildly variegated yarn to use against some more sedate colors or neutrals that you already have on hand?
How this works:
Pick your yarn. You’ll need a USI / 5.5mm hook, and yarn in the following quantities:
325 yards of Color A
650 yards of Color B (this will be the stripes between the other two colors, plus the textured final part of the shawl and edging)
325 yards of Color C
Buy a copy of the pattern on TLyarncrafts.com or on Ravelry; you can also get it for free on Toni’s blog at TLYCBlog.com.
The CAL will start on Monday, March 14. We’ll have a Zoom party to kick it off that evening at 8 PM PST. (Click here to join the event!)
Progress at your own pace - life is busy, socializing is still weird, and we know that the garden is calling many of you!
We’ll have a few CAL meet-ups at the shop (in person!) at 3 PM on the following dates:
Saturday, March 19
Saturday, April 2
Saturday, April 16
Saturday, April 30 - this is our wrap-up date, and we’d love to have a shawl-reveal celebration and photo around 4 PM!
We’ll offer online support through a group on our Facebook page and on our Discord channel. We’ll have a few Zoom meetings, too, if you want to meet up and chat with others from the comfort of your home while you work:
Monday, March 28 at 8 PM PST
Sunday, April 17 at 3 PM PST
Monday, April 25 at 8 PM PST
Knit-along: Rad Radish Socks
Details coming soon! We'll be making kits available as soon as we can, but stashbusting is welcome! In the meantime, you can pick up the pattern (please note - it's only on Ravelry) and start looking in your stash bin to find good candidates.
