Learn to Weave
Welcome to our introductory weaving lessons - we teach all of our introductory courses as one-on-one lessons so that we can adapt to what you already know (or what you think you might have known but have forgotten over time) and how you learn best.
When you sign up for Learn to Weave lessons, you purchase 4.5 hours' worth of learning time. We split this time into 2 lessons: the first one will last approximately 3 hours, while the second one will last approximately an hour and a half. In the first lesson, we discuss terminology, choose yarn for your first project, and get our little loom set up for your project. You will then rent the loom and take it home to complete the project; alternately, you may rent the loom and come in to work on your project during normal shop hours. In the second lesson, you will learn how to finish the project and take it off the loom; we will also discuss next steps, whether that is planning another project and another chunk of time for loom rental or deciding to purchase your own little loom.
(If you need financial assistance, please let us know in the comments section at check-out; we will let you know what we have available in the Community Crafting Fund. Your inquiry will remain confidential.)
Details:
- Once you place an order for a learn-to-weave series, we will call you on our next business day to schedule your first lesson. We will schedule the next lesson/s at the end of each lesson. We offer slightly more flexibility in scheduling the Learn to Weave series since the first session is so long.
- IMPORTANT: You will need to plan on renting the loom to work on your project and purchasing yarn for your project. These costs are not included in the lesson fees. We will discuss prices and options when we call schedule your first lesson.
- Loom rental fees may be applied towards the purchase price of a loom.
