You’ve made washcloths. You’ve made a scarf. What comes next? In this class, you’ll pick up several new skills that will help you level up to more complex projects by making a simple hat that has been a shop favorite for the past few years: Bankhead by Susie Gourlay (Ravelry link).
After this class, you’ll be able to:
- Cast on using either the long-tail or German Twisted / Old Norwegian cast-on
- Work in the round
- Read a basic pattern
- Work ribbing
- Read your stitches (can you tell a knit from a purl?)
- Work a project using both circular needles and double-pointed needles
- Work basic decreases
- Weave in ends
Skills required:
- Knit stitch/purl stitch
Materials required:
- US7 / 4.5mm 16” circular needle
- US7 / 4.5mm double-pointed needles (wooden needles recommended)
- Stitch markers
- Bankhead pattern by Susie Gourlay (free on Ravelry - please let us know if you cannot access Ravelry and we’ll print a copy for you)
- 200 yards of worsted-weight yarn in a lighter color (Berroco Vintage, Malabrigo Rios, or Berroco Ultra Wool are fantastic choices)
- Tapestry / darning needle
