Jamie Lomax’s Doodles have been wildly popular since she introduced them almost 5 years ago - we can’t keep the Doodle Decks in stock! If you’ve seen the decks but don’t know how to use them, join us for the Holiday Doodle Stocking class. Over three weeks, you’ll learn the basics of stranded colorwork (plus tips and tricks for choosing a great color palette), plus design and make your own holiday stocking.
After this class, you’ll be able to:
- Make confident choices about colors to use together in your project
- Using a digital camera you probably already have to help avoid color choice disasters
- Work simple stranded colorwork designs
- Effectively manage yarn while working stranded colorwork
- Read a chart for working in the round
- Work the grafting stitch to close your work seamlessly
Skills required:
- Knit stitch / purl stitch
- Working in the round
- Reading a standard knitting pattern
- “Reading” your stitches (can you tell a knit stitch from a purl stitch?)
Materials required:
- At least 2 colors of Berroco Lanas
- US7 / 4.5mm 16” circular needles
- US7 / 4.5mm double-pointed needles
- Stitch markers
- Holiday Doodle Stocking pattern (purchase through Ravelry - either through the shop or on your own)
- Tapestry / darning needle
Supplementary materials you might find helpful:
- Colored pencils to sketch out a design plan in the pattern “coloring book” section
- Scissors and tape to play with motif layout
