Intro to Stranded Colorwork - Basic Doodle Hat
Thursdays, Feb. 27 & March 13, 6-8 PM (must attend both sessions)
Class fee: $40 + materials
You’ve seen the Doodle Cowls. You’re super-excited to make one. But… how do you do the thing? How do you make those patterns magically appear in your fabric? It’s a technique called stranded colorwork (or sometimes Fair Isle), and if you can knit and purl, you can totally do this, too!
We’ll be making the Basic Doodle Hat, designed by Jamie Lomax - owner of Pacific Knit Co. and innovator behind the Doodle Decks!
After this class, you’ll be able to:
- Pick color combos that work together
- Knit with the “two-handed stranding” technique
- Follow a colorwork chart for working in the round
Skills required:
- Knit, purl, basic increases / decreases
- Work in the round
- Able to read basic knitting patterns
Required materials:
- Basic Doodle Hat pattern by Jamie Lomax (must purchase prior to the beginning of class on your own or through the shop)
- 2 contrasting colors of a DK-weight yarn (or 100g of your background color and at least 60-80g of contrast color/s)
