You’ve made washcloths. You’ve made a scarf. What comes next? In this class, you’ll pick up several new skills that will help you level up to more complex projects by making a simple beanie. The pattern is free on the 5 Knots North Blog - it's the Lakeside Beanie by Chellie Plummer.

After this class, you’ll be able to:

  • Start with a magic circle
  • Work in the round
  • Read a basic pattern
  • Work ribbing
  • Work basic increases
  • Weave in ends
  • BONUS: If you'd like to make a fruit-themed hat and embroider seeds, we'll show you how to do that as well.

Skills required:

  • Chaining
  • Single crochet / double crochet

Materials required:

  • USH / 5mm crochet hook
  • Removable stitch marker
  • 200 yards of worsted-weight yarn in a color easy for you to see your stitches in (Berroco Vintage, Malabrigo Rios, or Berroco Ultra Wool are fantastic choices) - if you would like a contrast color at the brim, plan on using about 35-40 grams

Land Acknowledgement

We honor the first peoples of our area by acknowledging that our location is within the traditional lands and waters of the following communities: stuləgʷábš, People of the River, Stoluck-wa-mish River Tribe, the Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians; the Tulalip Tribes and their ancestral bands; the Cayuse, Umatilla and Walla Walla peoples; and the Upper Skagit Indian Tribe and its eleven predecessor bands. These groups have inhabited this area for thousands of years; their descendants have remained here, actively practicing and re-establishing traditional activities and beliefs, to this day.
