We have the following policies in place regarding classes and lessons at the shop. When you sign up for a class or private lesson, you agree to abide by these rules.
Students must reserve their space WITH PAYMENT in full at least 2 days in advance of class. They may do so over the phone, online, or in person at Stilly River Yarns. Classes will be closed if no students are enrolled 48 hours prior to a class's scheduled start time.
If a class fills, students may request to be added to the wait list. If any cancellations occur, the student will be contacted within 24 hours of the class to reserve the seat with payment.
Children under the age of 14 may not attend classes, except with special permission from Lindsey, or if a class is designated specifically for younger students. Students 14 years and older may attend, but must pay the full class fee.
Every class description contains prerequisite skills. Please ensure that you understand and can use these skills before attending the class. Instructors will not be able to teach these skills in their class. You may sign up for a private lesson ahead of time if you so desire.
Students who cancel/give up their seat at least 48 hours in advance of the class start time may have a refund of the class fee OR may pick up their supplies at a later date OR may reschedule to a later session of the same class (when applicable).
Students who arrive more than 15 minutes late or who do not give at least 48 hours’ notice when cancelling will not be given a refund and may pick up their supplies at a later date. No class instruction time or information will be compensated. Students who do not come to class 3 times within a calendar year will no longer be permitted to sign up for classes at Stilly River Yarns.
Please come prepared with supplies ready, and homework completed (if given). If homework or materials purchases are not completed, we will give you any class supplies and patterns and ask you to leave the class. Please be on time, and keep side conversations at a minimum so as not to distract the instructor or other students. We ask that you purchase your yarn at the shop to ensure that it is appropriate for class; you may use your own notions, needles, and other supplies as appropriate. We offer a 20% discount on class materials at the time that you register for the class.
For classes taught outside of the shop’s regular business hours, please wait for the instructor or a shop employee to unlock the door and let you in. Once everyone has arrived, the door will be relocked. We do not allow anyone except registered students to be in the shop at these times. Classes taught during business hours will still be private, and shoppers will be asked to not distract those in attendance.
Online group classes will be taught through Zoom. Once we have received your class registration, we will send you a link that is unique to the class; if you are taking a class that has multiple sessions, the link will be static (it will remain the same for all class sessions).
Please familiarize yourself with Zoom prior to signing in for class. If you would like for us to do a test run with you, please contact the shop - we'll be happy to help!
Please ensure that you will have minimal disruptions in your workspace during the class. Your instructor may mute your audio or stop your video if either is becoming a significant distraction to them or other students.
All other shop policies, as outlined above, apply to the online learning environment.
